IKO PORAN,

- We posted our 2005 financial data on our website. Please note that from 2004 to 2005 our total revenue has grown 745%, and our cumulative disbursements to partner organizations have increased by 1,235.63%. Our financial priority is to support the partner NGO network. We hope that our revenue growth and increased productivity are significant indicators of sound governance and successful “Mission” application. - In our first quarter of 2006 we have already reached 53% of the revenues and 75% of the donations of what we did in the whole year of 2005;

- In relation to our partnership with Central de Santa, we have received the FUNARTE (National Foundation of Art) award to promote the circus. The spectacle Altos e Baixos, with Hubert Barthold and Gabi Mendes was presented 5 times for free at Quinta da Boa Vista – Rio de Janeiro;

- Mark Bahiri, a past volunteer that developed programs in community centers with Iko Poran and UNESCO makes the News at the section “Helping Hands” of the Scottsman Guide: http://www.scotsmanguide.com/default.asp?ID=1199&part=1#bio

- In February of 2006 we broke our historical record with 42 volunteers working at the same period in 28 partner organizations in Rio de Janeiro;

- In March of 2006 we broke our historical record with 324,863 page views on our website;

- Among the volunteers that we received in 2006, four have already became Iko Poran Ambassadors, promoting our programs in their countriesand and serving as a point of reference for future volunteers. They are: Christina Nickolova, in Bulgaria and Venezuela; Jessica Elfstron, in the United States; Kathleen Jeffers and Matthew Sykes, in the United Kingdom;

- We paraded with 9 volunteers on the Rio de Janeiro carnival with the Programa Social Crescer e Viver within the Samba School Unidos do Porto da Pedra, and also contributed to the sustainability of the organization;

- We started our operations in Salvador (Bahia) placing our first three volunteers to help in the partner organizations Associação Cultural Didá and Grupo Cultural Arte Consciente. During the year of 2006 we will implement an office in Salvador and in Praia do Forte (BA);

- Do you already know what the youth of Rio de Janeiro think about Sustainable Tourism? We recruited 34 youth from partner organizations to participate actively on the World Tourism Forum for Peace and Sustainable Development. After the event we collected their expressions and we published them on a website, created specially to let everyone know their opinions.
