If you choose to volunteer with us in this incredible program in Colombia you will be working within a small English Institute in the beautiful city Ibagué; the capital of the department of Tolima situated western Colombia, just south of the famous Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados. You will spend your days teaching English and practicing conversational skills; the institute offers a variety of classes of different levels and age groups, you may be responsible for teaching within different classes. Your teaching schedule will be 4 hours a day, from Monday thru Friday.

This is an incredible opportunity to gain some real teaching experience and to experience the true Colombia. You will be living among local people and will get all the benefits of a profound cultural exchange, while helping to broaden the opportunities of your students.

In this once-in-a-lifetime program all of your accommodation, plus one meal a day is completely free of charge. You also receive free Spanish classes, and normally our volunteers spend their weekends enjoying a variety of outdoor activities with all transportation included, for example rock climbing, Salsa classes, rappelling, horse riding, and partying with the local people!

    • In this unique program you have absolutely no program fees to pay whatsoever. All you pay is a one-time registration fee of US$199 to cover all the administration costs and your placement.
    • The registration fee for the program in Colombia is not refundable.

Volunteer in Colombia – Project details


This project is situated in Ibagué. The musical capital of Colombia, Ibagué is a beautiful city, which is much safer and cheaper than either Bogotá or Medellin. Moreover, you will find broad areas of natural beauty and wildlife close to Ibagué.

Accommodation & Meals for Colombia Volunteers

During your stay you will be living in the third-floor institute. There’s the teacher’s bedroom with its own bathroom, and it has a terrace.

We’ve got a kitchen with all utensils, microwave, fridge and washing machine, available. You can buy food from a supermarket 2 blocks away from the institute and prepare your own meals, for the meals not already included.

Start & Duration

Projects in Colombia start on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. Participants may choose to volunteer from 4 to 12 weeks


Orientation takes place on Sunday after the arrival date.

Volunteer Requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years old at the start of your placement and due to athletic activities during the weekends, such as climbing, rafting, hiking and others, there is an age limit of 35 years old;
  • You must speak fluent English;
  • Ideally, volunteers stay for a minimum of one month, and may extend their stay up to three months;
  • All volunteers must have adequate volunteer travel insurance.


You will have a competent support and advices from the local team and project leaders. Someone will always be available in the case of any emergency. Please keep in mind that you are in a different country and should take some precautions to avoid exposing yourself to certain risks.

The local coordinators will give you all the information to have a safe and unforgettable experience.
