The Circo Baixada is a project working with circus activities that takes kids off the streets and provides them with theatre classes, dance classes, circus activities, and recreational and educational games with children. It was founded in 2002, once the figure stating that 49% of the city’s street kids came from the “Baixada” area of Rio de Janeiro - thus, making obvious the need of such projects in the area. Circo Baixada is a project that views the re-integration of the children and adolescents in situations of street/at-risk with their families and communities as a priority.
