Volunteer Programs
DPG – DANÇA PRA GALERA
PARTNER INSTITUTION AND PROJECT
To protect the youth of Rio De Janeiro from being exposed to violence and becoming involved in crime, alternative forms of education and motivation activities have been put in to practice within these communities. Amongst the organizations involved in this work is
Dança pra Galera(DPG). DPG is an organisation established in 2002 that offers young people an opportunity to explore alternatives to the violence and crime that they are exposed to and consider positive ways in which they can influence their local community and other young people.
DPG provides the following services and programs for the youth of Prazeres.
1. Street dance training, lessons and choreography
2. Galera.com – an internet website and interactive service
3. IT services and web design training
4. Visual Arts expression
5. Library service within the local community
6. Health Awareness and Nutrition
ACTIVITIES THAT CAN BE DONE BY THE VOLUNTEER
Volunteers can teach or apply any of the following skill sets at beginner and/or advanced levels:
