Volunteer Programs
SAMP – SOCIADADE DE AMIGOS DOS MORROS PRAZERES
PARTNER INSTITUTION AND PROJECT
SAMP(Sociedade de Amigos dos Morros Prazeres) is a Non-governmental organization – NGO established by members of the local community in Morros Prazeres, Rio de Janeiro. Since 1962, SAMP has been running various activities and programs to boost development in the quality of life of people within this low-income community:
1. In association with a variety of other NGOs, SAMP provides local people with a range of information Playing ball games
2. Drawing and painting
3. Week to week self esteem and learning programs (of flexible design)
SAMP also provides a range of services for other members of the local community including:
1. Employment training and support services
2. Dental services
3. Medical and Health Awareness Programs
Through these activities, SAMP helps people to develop life-long practical skills that they can put in to action to earn a living. Of particular importance is SAMP’s work with children providing recreational facilities for broaden their horizons and encourage them to make positive contributions to the society in which they live.

ACTIVITIES THAT CAN BE DONE BY THE VOLUNTEER
Volunteers can teach or assist in teaching any of the following skill sets at beginner and/or advanced
levels:

Providing support to staff in arts, martial arts and dance programs being delivered within the local community

Devising and delivering new programs and courses in which the young people of
the local community can become involved.
|
|
Directing and providing input in the development of more recreational activities for the youth of Prazeres
|
|
Support the delivery and assist in the promotion of Health Awareness Initiatives being undertaken within the local
community.
