Instituto Trabalho e Cidadania
PARTNER INSTITUTION AND PROJECT
ITC - Instituto trabalho e cidadania (Labour and Citizen's Rights Institute)
was founded in 2000 with the objective to promote social and economic
development, as well as fighting poverty. ITC works with low income communities
promoting social and cultural events, helping develop and train community leaders,
and promoting research and education.
The creation of the Cultural Synval Silva centre, which hosts a number of schools and groups,
is the result of joint community action, working toward the promotion of socio-educational actions,
professional training, and cultural activities for Morro da Formiga. Also, the centre is developing an
initiative with the Ministry of Culture regarding the history of music production within the community.
1) Ponto de Cultura Synval Silva de Memória e Criação Musical: This project's
objective is to provide access to esthetic expression, to further artistic creation
and historical knowledge about the community. A group of 60
habitants of the Tijuca and Comunidade da Formiga communities will be introduced to guitar,
signing, percussion, musical theatre and composition of music.
