About Ghana in Depth
Take part in fascinating volunteer projects in Ghana, a country on the west coast of Africa. With Côte d’Ivoire and Togo as neighbors, Ghana today covers 238,533 square kilometers of the African continent.
As a volunteer in Ghana, you can do valuable work in social projects that benefit children and adolescents in particular. You can choose whether you prefer to look after children in a day care center or orphanage, or teach English at a school. If you feel a passion for sports, you can even train a young football team at school.
Ghana was the first country in Africa to break away from British colonial rule
Ghana was colonized by the British Empire, which laid the foundation for the modern country.
The British began exploring Ghana’s rich resources, gold, wood, industrial diamonds, fish, rubber, and even sold Ghanaians as slaves.
In 1957, Ghana finally broke away from colonial rule. As it became the first African country to become independent from foreign colonial rule, it became a historical model for sub-Saharan Africa. Ghana has matured in the present context into a modern society with a constitutional democracy.
