If you choose to volunteer in Colombia with us in this incredible teaching program you will be working within a small English Institute in the beautiful city Ibagué; the capital of the department of Tolima situated western Colombia, just south of the famous Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados.
You will spend your days teaching English and practicing conversational skills; the institute offers a variety of classes on different levels and age groups, you may be responsible for teaching different classes. Your teaching schedule as a volunteer in Colombia will be 4 hours a day, from Monday thru Friday.

- You will also have to pay a one-time registration fee of US$199 to cover administration and marketing costs.

This project to volunteer in Colombia as an English teacher is situated in Ibagué. The musical capital of Colombia, Ibagué is a beautiful city, which is much safer and cheaper than either Bogotá or Medellin. Moreover, you will find broad areas of natural beauty and wildlife close to Ibagué.
Accommodation & Meals for you as a volunteer in Colombia
During your stay as a volunteer in Colombia, you will be living on the third floor of the English Institute or in an apartment exclusive for volunteers.
Volunteers can use a kitchen with all utensils, microwave, fridge and washing machine, available. You can buy food from a supermarket 2 blocks away from the institute and prepare your own meals, for the meals not already included.
Start & Duration of the World’s Most Affordable Program to Volunteer in Colombia
The programs to volunteer in Colombia start on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. Participants may choose to volunteer from 4 to 24 weeks. However, if you choose to stay longer, remember to renew your visa after 12 weeks and pay U$30 at the immigration office.
Orientation takes place on Sunday after the arrival date.
Requirements to volunteer in Colombia
- You must be at least 18 years old at the start of your placement and due to athletic activities during the weekends, such as climbing, rafting, hiking, and others, there is an age limit of 35 years old;
- You must speak fluent English;
- Volunteers must stay for a minimum of four weeks and may extend up to 24 weeks;
- All volunteers must have adequate volunteer travel insurance.
During your stay as a volunteer in Colombia, you will have competent support and advice from the local team and project leaders. Someone will always be available in the case of an emergency. Please keep in mind that you are in a different country and should take some precautions to avoid exposing yourself to certain risks.
